Album 2 - Member Changes + New Concepts

Because of the internal conflict the members had towards the end of the 1st album, new members needed to be added to continue the group’s 2nd album activities.

Member Lee Gai (whose real name is Lee Heejung) was supposed to originally debut with the first album, but has now been added along with newer member Shim Eunjin. The original concept of ‘Female Warrior’ wasn’t enough to keep the group alive and with S.E.S and Fin.K.L gaining popularity with their “fairy-like” image, DR Ent. felt the need to change up the group's concept to something similar just to keep their heads above water.

Although we know the 2nd album most for its sugar-pop style songs “Yayaya” and “Change”, Dr Ent. made a decision to shed the image of a dance group and transform the members into a band with instruments. It seems that this idea was later decided not to have enough potential to become successful, so it was sadly abandoned. The songs on the album were remade and the original date for the 2nd album release was supposed to be around March of 1998 but was pushed back to September 15, 1998 for this reason.

Their experience with the first album made them work even harder for the 2nd album. With the skills they learned from playing instruments, they fully recorded the cover of “Top of the World” by the Carpenters for the album and were very dedicated to improving their music.

Not only did they improve their sound musically, but also wanted to improve their physical stamina (this is something that was a “problem” in the first album and what I assume the members were blamed for even though it was DR Ent. who was overworking the members -_-)

With strong determination and fear of failure from the first album, Baby V.O.X went through a six month training camp to strengthen their bodies and minds. Learning new skills such as traditional Korean martial arts (Taekkyeon).

Finally after thorough preparation and efforts, the song "Yayaya" was a hit the members and company were looking for in the rock-opera filled debut days. The follow up track "Change" was also a hit, securing Baby V.O.X a newly made fanbase. The Baby Angels official fanclub was developed during this time and with more popularity, comes more recognition in the music industry.
